European Week of Regions and Cities — Panel Discussion: “Investing in the Future: Smart, Green and Sustainable Urban Transformation”, Brussels, 14 October 2025 | Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union in Brussels

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, a panel discussion titled “Investing in the Future: Smart, Green, and Sustainable Urban Transformation” was held on 14 October 2025 at the premises of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union in Brussels. The event was organized by the Office of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Brussels.

The panel brought together representatives from five European regions: the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbia), the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Channel Islands (United Kingdom), the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Greece), and the Bucharest Region Development Agency (Romania).

The discussion focused on key challenges and opportunities in transforming urban areas and regions into smart, green, and sustainable communities. Through dynamic exchanges, regional representatives shared concrete experiences and projects related to urban space and infrastructure transformation, adaptation to climate change, implementation of green policies, and the involvement of local communities in the decision-making process.

It was emphasized that regions and cities play a crucial role in achieving European objectives, particularly in the context of the EU Green Deal and the energy transition.
