01. Jul 2025.
International Danube Day was commemorated today in Brussels with a panel discussion co-organized by the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union and the Office of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Ambassador Danijel Apostolović, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the EU. The panel was then addressed by several distinguished speakers: Ambassador Obrad Kesić, Head of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU; Morej Giland, Head of the Unit for Macro-Regions, Transnational and Interregional Cooperation, and Enlargement at the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission; and Mina Radmilović Pjevac, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Regions and Institutions at the European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

The discussion focused on the economic, environmental, tourism, and cultural potential of the Danube region—recognized as one of the key development priorities for Serbia and Southeast Europe. More than just a river, the Danube serves as Europe’s vital artery, connecting numerous countries, peoples, and cultures, and offering vast opportunities for sustainable development, regional cooperation, and connectivity.
