Briefing on the Dialogue on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Priština and the difficult position of the Serbian People in Kosovo and Metohija, 4 March 2026
The briefing was attended by EU ambassadors in the Political and Security Committee, delegates of member states in the Council of the EU working groups on Enlargement and the Western Balkans, representatives of the European Commission, the European External Action Service and members of the team of the EUSR for the Belgrade-Priština Dialogue.
Head of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the EU Ambassador Danijel Apostolović, in the introductory part, pointed out the endangered rights and complex existential issues facing Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as their exposure to frequent ethnically motivated incidents.
Director Petković informed the attendees in detail about the situation on the ground, the status of the Belgrade-Priština Dialogue and the threat to the survival of Serbian institutions. Special attention was paid to the issue of the announced so-called laws on foreigners and vehicles, and the catastrophic consequences of their implementation for the Serbian population.
In the discussion that followed, the participants were briefed in detail on all activities undertaken by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija within the Belgrade-Priština Dialogue, as well as the efforts the Government of the Republic of Serbia is making regarding unilateral moves by Priština that do not contribute to the de-escalation of the general situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
